Judy McEvoy, co-founder and instructor

Specialties: Adult yoga, prenatal and postpartum yoga, yoga for children, yoga for seniors, yoga therapy, restorative yoga

Judy has been practicing yoga for about twenty years. In 2003, she completed her first teacher-training program and was certified as a children’s yoga instructor. With 30 years of experience in the early childhood field, she was able to integrate the principles of yoga into her classroom. She saw the benefit of yoga for children completely change the dynamic of her groups. She has been holding after school yoga classes for children from ages three to 12, and adult classes for the last seven years.

Judy’s enthusiasm and commitment to yoga doesn’t stop with children. She has completed the 200-hour Yoga Alliance Approved program and is working on a 500-hour program.

She is certified in adult yoga (Levels 1 through 5), prenatal and postpartum yoga, and yoga for seniors. She has trained in anatomy and alignment.

Judy and her husband Carl have traveled extensively in Asia and have practiced yoga in India.

The spirit and emotional aspects of yoga are as important to Judy’s yoga practice and teaching as the physical aspects. She considers herself a life-long learner and is interested in everything that yoga has to teach her.

Judy has wanted to open a yoga center for all ages and abilities for years and can’t wait to welcome you to Village Yoga!  Visit Judy’s Blog.

Other Village Yoga Instructors:

Terra Leigh Bell

Specialty: Hatha

Terra Leigh started practicing yoga at an Ashtanga studio in Bellingham six years ago in an effort to improve her strength and flexibility for her dancing.  But long after she decided that a dancer’s life was not for her, yoga kept surprising her with its gift of joy in the body.  She has found that yoga is able to carry her through tough times, emotionally and physically, and now enjoys giving that gift to her students.  Her practice has grown to encompass general Hatha, Hatha Flow, Sivananda, and most recently she has begun studying Vipassana meditation, a part of the Buddhist tradition.

Sue Bream

Specialty: Pilates

Sue Bream combines her expertise as a Pilates instructor and personal trainer in her work with her clients. Sue is both a P.M.A.-certified Pilates instructor and an A.C.S.M. and A.C.E. certified personal trainer. Her business “Fitness Choices” focuses on Pilates, Personal Training, and Nutrition/Wellness. She has been working in the fitness industry for over 14 years.

Sue has been teaching Pilates classes since 2007 both on the traditional equipment and on the mat. Sue became interested in Pilates as she continued to be physically active while raising her family and looking for another mode of exercise to balance out the skiing, running, speed skating, yoga, etc., that she loved to do.

Her specialties include women’s fitness (pre- and postnatal exercise, an understanding of mid-life changes), cancer (especially breast cancer), injury rehab, and older-adult fitness as well as working with active adults and teens who are looking for cross-training for other activities or just to be physically balanced and develop and maintain strong cores.

Tiffany Blackburn

Specialty: Viniyoga

Tiffany Blackburn is a registered yoga instructor, certified in Viniyoga by Tracy Weber through Whole Life Yoga’s 200-hour teacher training program in 2009. Tiffany dabbled in yoga throughout her life, trying many styles and acquiring many injuries. She decided to take a teacher training course in order to learn more about how yoga actually works on the body, hoping to keep herself safe from injury in the future. At the time, she never imagined herself teaching, but was unable to resist sharing her knowledge once she began learning the benefits of a regular practice on both the body and mind. She continues to train and learn, and now uses yoga and meditation to fight the effects of sitting at the computer for hours in her work as a graphic designer. More info is available at http://tiffanyblackburn.com/yoga. She loves Viniyoga for its gentleness, its ability to heal and strengthen, and its calming effect on the mind.

Jordan Halter

Specialty: Hatha, Vinyasa

Yoga has become a lifestyle for me. While it started on the mat, it’s now infused into all aspects of my life, reminding me to live each moment with genuine gratitude.

As a teacher, I emphasize the importance of breathing deeply and letting go. Whether we’re in the midst of an invigorating flow or relaxing in a restorative pose, the same mantra applies. Breathe in, breathe out, let go. I find when we practice in this way, it’s easier to be present in the moment so we can embrace the many blessings that exist all around us.

My classes are a blend of Hatha, Vinyasa and Viniyoga. My first teaching certificate was through YogaFit in 2001. I’m also a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance through Whole Life Yoga in Greenwood, completed in 2006. I am experienced in adult, pre and postnatal, and children’s yoga.

I look forward to sharing this practice with you. Namaste.
